Handling your questions and inquiries everyday has helped to increase my own personal knowledge about different devices in the industry.  Every day at Vape World we handle more questions about Pax than one person could come up with alone. Here’s just a few of our top tips and tricks for this amazing device…

- Pax parts, especially screens, are always in high demand.  To help prolong the life of your screens, soak them in 91% isopropyl alcohol for 24-48 hours. Rinse them  immediately in HOT water after soaking, and your screens should be good to use again.

- Just like your favorite fine-tuned Italian sports car (my favorite is the Ferrari LaFerrari!) your Pax will need to be cleaned on a regular basis. From our experience, we recommend cleaning your Pax after every dozen uses or so to keep it in top performance. Remember, a clean Pax is a happy Pax!

- You can use the original box from the manufacturer as a convenient vape case. There’s plenty of room for your Pax, charger, cleaning kit, and even a small Aerospaced Grinder.

- To get the best vapor out of your Pax, I recommend that your blends are dried and that they are ground very finely.  I recommend filling your vape basket very full and very tight.

- Wrapping a rubber band around your Pax will keep it from slipping and sliding out of your hand or around your counter top.

Green means go!

- Pax is smart and will let you know when it needs attention. If your mouthpiece action seems to be a bit sticky, or if your Pax LED indicator is displaying the temperature setting when your mouthpiece is in the “on” position, don’t fret! Ploom now includes with every new unit the same food-safe, water soluble lubricant used in the manufacturing process, and additional lubricant is also available for purchase. This lubricant breaks up any build-up, enhances the detection sensor for the mouthpiece and will keep your Pax working smoothly. Applying lubricant takes only a matter of seconds and can be applied in between your regular Pax cleanings. Keep in mind, a little goes a long way!

Here at Vape World I have the pleasure of speaking with some of the coolest people around. I also get to test, use and recommend various vaporizers that have really changed the game!

The portable vaporizing movement has opened up a world of possibilities for us movers and shakers. What used to be hidden behind closed doors is now something that can be done almost anywhere. The beach is my favorite place to use my portable vape. Who doesn’t enjoy soaking up the sun and freeing your mind? After all, laying out and baking is not just for your skin!

2. Thank you for not smoking!

Have you ever gone to see a movie and halfway through the intro previews you’re no longer on that desired level? It is one of the biggest let downs of all time. That is precisely why I love my portable unit for vaping at the movies. No more buzz kill before the movie has even begun!

3. Take in the greenery – at your local park!

As a person who thoroughly enjoys the outdoors, I find taking my portable vape with me to the park allows me to escape the grind of the everyday city. Having grown up outside of Manhattan, there is nothing better than sitting on a park bench, vaping and taking in the scenery. Even if you only have a few minutes to escape, try it next time you’re near an outdoor recreation area.

4. Outlawed at the in-laws

I could not decide if this should have been number one on my list. I mean c’mon, it’s a no-brainer. My in-laws always made it very clear that their house was a smoke-free zone. With my portables in tow, that is no longer a topic of conversation. Now I bring two portable vaporizers with me when visiting my in-laws. It really helps to lighten the experience!

There is nothing that calms me down more than taking out my portable while I sit on the highway in bumper-to-bumper traffic. Aside from wishful thinking of teleportation, I always find myself extremely stressed in those situations. I especially love to use Peppermint and Green Tea on the road, as they provide a tasty and calming pick-me-up

6. Shop till you drop, or your battery runs out!

As an avid shopper, who may be bordering addiction, fusing my two favorite things together makes for an awesome outing. My fiancé hates visiting the mall and always used to complain about how long I took in each store. Now I simply grab a portable unit on my way to the mall and there is nothing but pure happiness from all parties involved!

7. Goodnight moon…

Remember when your parents would read to you before bed? Yeah… I don’t remember that either. But like a good book before bed, my portable vaporizer tucks me in and leaves me with a warm fuzzy feeling before I drift off to sleep. Goodnight stars, goodnight air… good night portable vape that I take everywhere.

8. Disney World: It’s not just for kids!

Theme parks are awesome. Rides, games, fun! Taking my portable with me just enhances the experience and keeps an even bigger smile glued on my face! I suggest sticking to the roller coasters… who doesn’t love to be lifted? Just be careful when riding the spinning teacups, this may induce serious buzz kill!

9. Hotel, motel, Holiday Inn.

Hotels are fun! Jumping on freshly made beds, not cleaning up, ordering room service, the possibilities are endless! But I always found myself in a dilemma – Do I get a smoking room, which is inevitably going to smell like cigarettes, or do I take a risk of burning one in a smoke-free suite? That burning question is no longer a worry! My portable vape can be used in a smoke-free room and I do not have to worry about paying an extra fine!

10. Bar buzz kill… or wait!

As someone who does not really enjoy alcohol, I love that I can join my friends at a local bar and use my portable vaporizer. It makes me feel included and also makes me look like a rock star. Whip out a vape to impress the ladies or gents. I guarantee you will get some numbers!

Fits great in the palm of your hand!

Thinking about purchasing an Arizer Solo? If you already have, you have made an excellent choice! Below, I will help you get to know your new (or hopefully soon-to-be-new) device by giving you some tips and tricks that I have learned over my time here at Vape World.

Before you use your Solo for the first time you will notice the mouthpiece is a bit difficult to fit inside the heating crevasse, but don’t worry, it is suppose to be this way. My suggestion is to first heat your device up to temperature 7; it will take a couple minutes to reach its maximum temperature. By holing the mouthpiece at its base, press the stem into the heating crevasse as it sits on a sturdy surface. You might need to use some force while also wiggling it until it finally pops in. Don’t worry, the glass mouthpieces are strong and will not break. The reason why it is so tough to insert the mouthpiece into the unit for the first time is because Arizer has equipped the Solo with a rubber O-Ring to firmly keep the mouthpiece inside your Solo while in use. Therefore it needs to be “broken-in” the first time you use it.

Once you have your Solo ready to use for the fist time, make sure to completely drain the whole battery until it’s completely dead. Re-charge the battery to full capacity after you have drained the battery. The Solo runs off a lithium-ion battery and this is standard procedure for these type of batteries in order to maximize their life.

When filling up the mouthpiece chamber make sure you grind your plant material. Since the Solo does not utilize a mesh screen (finally!), make sure to not grind your blends too finely. If your material is too fine, there is a chance it will be pulled through as you’re taking your draws. On the plus side, no mesh screens means maintenance is a breeze!

To take a draw from your Arizer Solo, make sure to take a slow steady draw. You might notice that taking a draw this way will produce much more vapor than taking a fast one. The rate of your draw will determine the ‘thickness’ of your vapor.

Once you are ready to empty out your chamber, hold the mouthpiece up-side down to pull it out of the base unit gently. This way your blends will stay tucked in minimizing spillage.

I really love my Solo and think it’s such an amazing portable vape! Not only does it produce flavorful, high-quality vapor,  it can also tag along with you while you’re on the go! Going on a vacation? Take your Solo with you! The Solo can be stored in a VapeCase to be traveled with ease.

Your Solo does not require much maintenance unlike so many other portable vaporizers out today. So rest easy, you can mark off cleaning your vaporizer off your to-do list after reading these quick how-to clean tips! The glass mouthpiece is obviously the piece that requires a higher maintenance than the actual unit. The easiest way to clean the glass mouthpiece is to leave it overnight in isopropyl alcohol. After soaking it, make sure to wash it off with hot water. The chamber inside the unit may be cleaned with a damp Q-tip or paper towel with isopropyl alcohol and wipe thoroughly. Easy as that!

I hope I was able to provide some insights on this fantastic device. The Solo is an office favorite and hopefully it will become one of your favorites too!

I always joke and say: “Yeah, for sure, but you have to get a Vape World tattoo first!” We’ll have a good laugh and then continue on with our shenanigans.

One day I ran into my buddy at the bar and we get into conversation. On cue, he asks the golden question: “…. Come on bro, you must have one just laying around that you can spare!” I chuckle and give him my canned response that I’ve learned to repeat like a broken record.

Not even giving it a second thought, he says: “Sure, I’m down. But don’t tell my girlfriend – she’ll kill me.”  Thinking he’s joking I play it off like it was the booze talking. But he wasn’t. It just so happened there was a tattoo shop right next to the bar (go figure).

Happy Vaping

1. Make sure that if you are going to be enjoying your vaporizer at home on Halloween, the candy bowl for Trick-or-Treaters is outside.
2. Before you put the candy bowl for Trick-or-Treaters outside,  be sure to take out as much candy as you anticipate needing for personal consumption throughout the night.
3. Whatever amount you decided in tip #2, double it.
4. Use the buddy system! Halloween can be a very dangerous night for the vape-enhanced mind; no one wants to find you cowering in the bushes because the monster who used to grab at your ankles from underneath your bed when you were a kid just rang your doorbell looking for Whoppers.
5. Gentlemen- If you are planning to go out for Halloween, keep this in mind: Women typically spend between 1-3 hours “enhancing” their natural appearance for a night on the town. For Halloween, these same women have spent 3 or more weeks preparing their much more technically advanced and effective techniques of deception- this is no time for blurred vision or otherwise impaired decision making. Use plenty of visine, and be on high alert for potential coyote ugly situations. Buddy system may also come in handy here.
6. Ladies- You, too, are vulnerable to the Code Red Coyote Ugly Advisory attributed to Halloween, and should be sure to compensate for any impairment of your decision making on this night in particular . If he is wearing a mask or makeup, get a Facebook friend request before proceeding with anything more than free drink-accepting. If your iPhone is already swimming in the toilet by this point, check the driver’s license picture. If he doesn’t have one…well, do you really need to be going home with a grown-ass man with no driver’s license?
7. We all know sometimes vaping can lead to freaking brilliant ideas. We also all know that the police hate brilliant ideas. So, if anything you are planning (which may or may not involve the use of toilet paper or public nudity) may result in possible interactions with Police of the non-hot and half-naked Halloween variety, please make sure that your person and/or home is free of materials which may result in trading your Chong costume for an orange jumpsuit. I guarantee you that no matter how itchy that wig is, the orange jumpsuit is significantly less comfortable. Also, there is no candy or Sexy Statues of Liberty in jail.
8. Along the same lines as tip #7, parents also hate freaking brilliant ideas. So, if any amazing, hilarious prank or other genius plan you come up with while vaping on Halloween might result in small children crying, don’t do it. At least not in your own neighborhood, and have a getaway vehicle waiting.
9. If you’re going to be anything with wings, or anything that it would seem otherwise reasonable could fly (Superman, Aladdin and you live somewhere with a rug, etc), go ahead and write on your mirror/white board/hand now: YOU CAN’T FLY! REALLY, BRO, YOU CAN’T! AND IF YOU COULD, YOU WOULDN’T NEED TO CLIMB ANYTHING TALL TO DO IT!!
10. Finally, make sure you clean your Pax before getting dressed for the evening. What are you going to do if the battery light comes on after you’ve already put on your giant furry Winnie the Pooh hands?

Completely silent, Pax communicates with the user through the glowing indicator light on the front of the unit. About 30 seconds after powering on, the purple indicator light turns green to signal that it is ready to vaporize. Lift the mouthpiece out of the unit to reveal an LED button for temperature selection. The color-coded system gives control of each vaporizing experience with a range of three (3) temperature settings: yellow indicates low (370°F), orange indicates medium (390°F), and red indicates the highest temperature (410°F). The motion sensor inside Pax will automatically put it into “sleep mode” when you set it down for over 30 seconds. To see your battery level, simply shake Pax and the indicator light will flash to show you how much battery life is left. Although you cannot vape while you charge it, the Pax only takes 90 minutes for a full charge, and you can expect up to 2 hours of continuous use. Made in Canada, the Arizer Solo is one of our most popular portable vaporizers. This unit has a great reputation for taste, as the glass diffusing tubes deliver superior vapor quality, while proving to be shockingly easy to clean. The exterior is a solid aluminum outer shell, resistant to scratches and general wear and tear. Measuring at 4.5” in height and 1.75” in diameter, the Arizer Solo is equipped with seven (7) settings on the LED Temperature Control System ranging from 365°F- to 410°F, and heats up in 1-2 minutes. A stainless steel heating crucible tops the ceramic heating element, which is powered by an internal rechargeable Lithium-ion battery. Throw it on the charger for 4 hours like a cell phone, and this portable unit will offer up to 3 hours of continuous use. A battery saving automatic shut-off feature powers this unit off after 12-minutes. Although, it is not possible to vaporize while charging on the original battery cord, an optional in-use power adapter will allow use on a dead battery. Another cool feature of the Solo: the LED indicators flash to show the battery level once it is powered on. This way, you won’t have to guess whether or not you have enough battery life. The beeping sound on this device can even be turned off for silent vaping. Larger than most portables, the Vapir NO2 Vaporizer sports a simple, lightweight design that is extremely easy to use, even while multitasking. Once the mouthpiece and tube are attached, the NO2 can be twisted into two basic parts: the top of the NO2, and the rest of the handheld unit. Compared to the size of the whole unit, the filling chamber is somewhat small; however, it can be ideal for one to two users. Another design aspect of the NO2 is that the mouthpiece can be changed out easily during or between uses, while the device is also easy to maintain with the included cleaning brush.

The Vapir NO2 is another silent vaporizer, with a power switch located on the side of the unit and temperature selections buttons on the front. After a 1 minute heat up time, its red indicator light turns green when the unit is ready to vape. The NO2 runs on an internal rechargeable battery, which provides one (1) hour of continuous use, and will automatically shut off after 20 minutes to conserve power. Another option in handheld units is the DaVinci Vaporizer with digital temperature selection. Powered by its internal rechargeable Lithium-ion battery, a dual-button procedure prevents accidental heat-up, and fail-safe automatic shut-off kicks in after 10 minutes. When it is first powered on, the DaVinci is set to a default temperature of 375°F, which will be ready to vape in 2 minutes. The power is in your hands with an easily adjustable temperature control panel. After a three hour charge, this unit will provide about 45 minutes of battery life. If you are running low on battery, you can even use it while it is charging. One of the characteristics that sets the DaVinci apart is its ability to vaporize a variety of materials. A bit larger than a cigar, the compact and portable Inhalater Vaporizer offers another choice for quick and silent use. The knob on this unit gives the user 9 adjustable temperature settings between 284°F and 393°F. With 60 second heat-up, a 6-minute automatic shut off, and even heat distribution, the Inhalater offers efficient on-the-go use. It comes with a versatile micro-USB power cord, which can convert into a computer plug or wall adapter. Recharging time is about 5 hours on a fully discharged battery, and the green indicator light will light up until the battery is completely charged. The manufacturer advertises that 6 minutes of charging are necessary per 1 minute of operation. This portable has a one (1) year warranty on workmanship and materials. Batteries are replaceable by the user, and the sturdy design of the Inhalater has no fragile parts.

A commonly known icon in portable vaporization is the American made Magic Flight Launch Box. Handmade of natural materials and backed by the manufacturer’s lifetime warranty, this unit is super small and can be easily hidden in hand. To reduce the size, this portable can be used with or without a removable mouthpiece stem. The large trench works best when loosely filled with finely ground aromatherapy blends, and heats up silently in 5 to 10 seconds. The Complete Kit includes two (2) rechargeable AA NiMh batteries, and the user must physically press the batteries to make the connection that begins heating. An indicator light glows orange while it is heating up. This is a great vaporizer for outdoor use, since the hinged acrylic top is resistant to wind. While a rubber band used to secure this lid, newer models flaunt an improved notch to hold the top tightly in place.

The ThermoVape T1 Kit and the ThermoVape Revolution are two convection-style options powered by push-operated batteries. This clever control prevents accidental use when the unit is stored in a pocket or purse. Made in the USA of quality craftsmanship, the ThermoVape line bears a compact yet durable design. Highly efficient, a Conversion Kit allows the ThermoVape T1, meant for dry aromatherapy blends, to transform into a ThermoVape Revolution with an easy loading window for vaporizing essential oils. Vapor is produced through the food grade ceramic stabilized heating coils metered by four (4) air intake holes. The ThermoVape heats up to approximately 390°F in as little as 10 seconds, and users can regulate the temperature by experimenting with draw rate and breath control: a slow, steady draw will ensure a consistent vapor. What is a vapor enthusiast to do when electricity is not readily available? Made in Ireland, the Iolite Original and Iolite WISPR portable vaporizers run on butane, which means there is no need to rely on a power outlet or battery source. These units should be filled with Iolite-approved high quality, 5x filtered Butane Fuel by Vector for optimal use. Both vaporizers come with a carrying pouch and utilize an easy to load filling chamber that removes completely from the unit. With an operating time of about 90 minutes on a full tank of butane, Iolite products reach a temperature of 374°F in about 2 minutes. The ambient temperature of the unit is self-regulating, and heats in cycles. While the unit heats, a hushed whisper indicates that butane is flowing again. While both options are lightweight and easy to use, the two models do have noticeable visual differences.

The visual aesthetic of the Iolite Original has been compared to a walkie talkie. The Original uses two buttons: a power switch and ignition button. Rigid mouthpiece extensions are available to allow a longer travel path for vapor to cool down before inhalation. An optimizer is another great addition designed to create better and thicker aerifying effects from the Iolite.

Some functional improvements were made with the invention of Iolite WISPR.  A butane viewing window means users no longer need to wonder how many power sessions are left on a unit. This unit was made even more compact than its predecessor: there is only one button to use, but you click it twice to power on. A flexible mouthpiece folds down for compact storage, and the square design and flat bottom allows this vaporizer to stand up on its own.

Offering a standard pipe design, the VaporGenie Vaporizer is our only flame-based vaporizer. This ultra-portable unit allows a familiar alternative to smoking, and can ease the transition for a new user. Although, the unit looks straightforward, there is a slight learning curve: The technique requires practice, and combustion is common for new users. Pipe designs are often attractive and affordable, but they do require that you master the technique.

The best way to ensure a smooth, even draw is to make sure the blend of choice is tightly secured in the heating chamber. When blends are not tightly packed, I find it less easy to achieve the full effectiveness and flavor of Pax. Once you have firmly filled Pax with your blends, simply pull out the mouthpiece to reveal a white toggle switch that controls the set temperature of the device. Press the toggle to rotate between heat settings. Pax has three pre-set temperature settings: low (Yellow – 370° F / 188° C), medium (Orange – 390° F / 193° C), and high (Red – 410° F / 210° C.) Once the temperature toggle is pressed, the indicator light on the front of the unit will change to the appropriate color. As soon as the temperature is set, Pax will begin to glow purple, indicating that the heater is active, and the unit is warming up. Once Pax reaches the desired temperature, the display will change to a bright green color to indicate that it is fully heated and ready for use. This cycle typically takes 30 seconds, depending on ambient temperature, and the set temperature. In other words, if you want to use Pax in an igloo, it might take more than 30 seconds. Once the unit is heated and the heat resistant mouthpiece is placed back on the unit, begin by taking a long, slow draw. I enjoy my vapor thick and flavorful, so rapid wispy draws simply won’t cut it. One of the reasons I like Pax so much is the quality and density of the vapor it produces. Users can manipulate the thickness of the vapor by drawing at different speeds. Heat up time on this unit is very quick compared to most other battery powered vaporizers. From setting the temperature to complete heat up is approximately 30 – 40 seconds. I am used to the heat up time of my Solo (about a minute and a half), so I was very impressed with Pax’s heat up time.

The internal battery has a suite of interesting and intuitive features that caught me by surprise, and helped to build my confidence about the device. First and foremost, Pax has a formidable battery life compared to its charge time — boasting two hours of continuous use after just one hour of charging. This two hours of charge has been lasting me up to a week. It’s so powerful that I had to neglect to charging Pax just to test how long it could last me on one charge.The battery has an indicator as well, that lets the user know the charge status of Pax at any time. Once the unit is turned on, simply shake lightly in your hand to activate the battery life indicator. When the user shakes the unit, Pax’s display will glow Green (Full Charge) Yellow (2/3 Charge) or Red (1/3 Charge). With the shake function, this cool device really does come off like an iPod Nano! I am a bit of a connoisseur, so taste means a great deal to me. I have always really enjoyed the Arizer Solo because it produces the best flavor and consistency out of any portable vaporizer I had tried. Needless to say, I was impressed by the quality and taste of Ploom’s new Pax Vaporizer — so much so that I worry my Solo will soon be collecting dust on the shelf. With its simplicity of use, sleek design, powerful battery, and great vapor quality, Pax by Ploom has quickly become my go-to portable vaporizer.

The PLENTY Vaporizer is small, lightweight, and silent. The dimensions are roughly 6″ x 9″ x 2″. It is capable of vaporizing at temperatures between 266 deg. F to 395 deg. F (130 deg. C to 202 deg. C). The filling chamber’s temperature is displayed on the front of the unit via an analogue thermometer.

It features a stainless steel coil attached to a mouthpiece which is designed to cool the vapor during draws. Internally it has a bi-metallic regulator to prevent overheating with a temperature fuse, as well as being able to turn itself off after non-use if you forget.

The unit has a very unique design and resembles a power tool you might find at a hardware store. It certainly doesn’t look like any vaporizer we’ve seen before.

Currently the PLENTY Vaporizer is only available in Europe for 248 € (Euros). The PLENTY also only operates on 230 Volts, which rules out using this vaporizer in the U.S. or any other country which uses 110/120 Volts for power without a voltage converter (which we don’t recommend doing). A 120 Volt model for other countries including the U.S. has not yet been announced, but we can only assume one will become available in the not-so-distant future.

Our Preliminary Thoughts

It seems, like everything else, vaporizers are becoming smaller and more portable. There’s no doubt that Storz & Bickel wants to capture this market. Plus the Volcano vaporizer, while timeless and great, has been out for many years now, so I’m sure there was pressure to release a new product alongside the Volcano.

Will the PLENTY take the place of a Volcano vaporizer? Most likely not. It seems to fill a different niche. The Volcano vaporizer only works with bags, so this will be Storz & Bickel’s first ‘direct draw’ style vaporizer yet, which makes it perfect for personal use, especially if it heats up quicker than the Volcano, for quick sessions.

The one thing that is somewhat concerning is there has been no mention of batteries or portability. From everything that Storz & Bickel has released, it appears that the PLENTY is only marked as “hand held”, which means it needs to be plugged in for power, just like the Volcano. If that’s the case, then the PLENTY would be trying to compete with other whip/draw vaporizers like the Silver Surfer or Da Buddha instead of portable units like the new Arizer Solo or Iolite WISPR.
